As with anything worth accomplishing in life, achieving financial success is far from easy and requires a lot of disciplined effort.  It’s not always easy to stay on course, especially as we encounter inevitable setbacks now and then.  Therefore, I think it’s extremely important to remind ourselves what it is that motivates us to stick it out.

Sometimes I need to take a step back and reflect on what it is that I’m working towards.  I think about the student loans that I’ve already had to take out, the crappy jobs I’ve worked at in the past, experiences I can’t currently afford, and all other things that energize and remind me why I’m doing this.

Make sure you do what you have to keep yourself motivated.  For example, I printed out a handful of good quotes and posted them right above my computer.  When I’m sitting here struggling for inspiration, they usually get me moving again.  I also keep a list handy on my computer of all the reasons why I want to be financially secure.  Simple enough, yet it helps me ignite my passion again when I’m slacking.

I recommend listing all the things that motivate you to become financially independent and secure.  Come up with a good list, save it somewhere accessible on your computer and return to it often.  Don’t limit yourself when it comes to creating your list; anything is fair game.  If one of your ultimate experiences would be to kick back on the beaches of Fiji, put it down.  Don’t be afraid to think big; we will fight harder for larger dreams.  If you haven’t already, do this now;  it’s pretty easy and fun.
